…but I always thought if you found something your opponent couldn't stop you kept doing it until they did, right?  So how come every time the Bolts were successful last night, they immediately switched to something  else?  How do you avg 4.7 yds/carry, complete 90% of your passes and only put up 17 pts on offense?  They coulda scored 80 without breaking a sweat.  How can a coach that can't produce better than that hang onto a j*b?  There's gotta be at least a half-dozen HS coaches right here in western PA that'd have that tm leading their division.

Until that 2nd D TD i was pretty sure KC was going to come back… RommieO couldnt coach himself outta a paper bag either… SOO… it just doesnt seem like either of these two coaches will be around next year

ill be shocked if ROMMIEO makes it another week.. the stats this team has produced are unreal… what are they… -20 in turn over.. they havent drafted a QB that has won them a game in 20 years… seems like a trend

Thanks for the math help

I never felt at the Chiefs had a chance. Chargers really had only one terrible play before half.

The 3rd quarter the Chargers had basically one series and it stalled because of sack followed by holding putting them in 2nd and 24.

Next 2nd half series resulted in a TD at the start of the 4th quarter and their 3rd was with 4:26 left in clock killing mode.

Chargers started the 4th with the ball and scored with 11:37 left to put the score 24-6. Rivers doesn't touch the ball again until it's 31-13 with 4:25 left in the game.

It was 24-6 with 9 minutes to go before the 2nd D TD.. Why would you have any thought that the Chiefs were still in the game? They needed 3 TD's in 9 minutes, stop the Chargers which they had done only twice all night (one being the int in the end zone) and hadn't moved the ball at all.

geez, the SD offense put up 17 pts in the first 48:27 n' the Chiefs defensed exactly two – count 'em – two passes all night!  that gave 'em an 11-pt lead with over 11 1/2 minutes left in the game …I'd call that reasonably close

the Bolts started running Mathews with success n' proceeded to abandon the run to move the ball in the air; the first pass was to Ajirotutu for a big gain on 3rd & long n' then they never looked his way for the rest of the game …they opened the 2nd drive running successfully with Mathews mixed with a long gainer for Alexander n' then dinked twice to Ronnie Brown in the red-zone n' settled for a FG  …3rd possession they switched to the 2-minute offense even though starting in excellent field postion with nearly 3 minutes on the clock, drove downfield with that n' threw a stupid pick in the endzone …to start the 2nd half they dug themselves a hole n' then tried to get out of it with a screen n' a draw rather than attempt a pass downfield (that they'd been completing at will all game long) n' punted …next they ran 7 straight plays then threw for the TD, up 17-6

every single time they had something w*rking that the defense had no answer for, they switched in mid-stride to something else – they appeared to have no game-plan, relying solely on inspiration of the moment and any reasonably talented team would've mopped the floor with 'em

I don't blame Crennell so much for his own club unless he was responible for the personell decisions like the QB tandem of Cassel & Quinn; they've got a foot in the grave when they step on the field n' I don't know that George Halas could get any more out of that collection of stiffs …what talent they have is more than neutralized by the morass of the clueless & incompetent  …it's a credit to the him they've managed to stay in games for as long as they have …not that he's any good, but you can hardly blame him for gettin' nuthin' out of nuthin'

I swear we were watching different games.

Mathews was out because he was once again dinged up. SD also runs Ronnie Brown in the 2 minute offense and on 3rd downs.

Bolts didn't punt until middle of the 3rd quarter and the punt was due to a penalty and a sack.

2nd punt was with 2 minutes to go in the game after a clock killing possession.

EVERYTHING the Bolts did worked. Rivers had one incomplete pass and an INT to end the 1st half, and had NO INCOMPLETIONS in the second half. Yet your complaining that Ajirotutu didn't catch enough passes?

okay, I'll try again

Mathews was out for part of one series getting retaped – he was in for every other series through 3-quarters-plus (except one immediately below), jump-starting the attack then, with one exception, disappearing for the rest of the drive …although they claim to have regained confidence in him, he came off the field on all 3rd downs, all short-ydg plays and every visit to the red-zone, and only got any carries at all after they crossed midfield on a single series

Brown plays in the 2-minute offense, but they went into the 2-minute offense with 2:45 on the clock, starting from their own 37 – a bit premature from my way of looking at it

I understand changing your attack to cross up the defense but the defense was already crossed up unilaterally & were stopping nothing – SD continually crossed themselves up trying to do different things when what they were already doing was successful, ignoring Ajirotutu being one noticeable example

despite the Chiefs being powerless to stop them, they only managed to put up 17 pts in over 48 minutes – any competent offense would've tripled that facing such negligible resistance

if you saw all of that as glaring success, then I guess we were indeed watching two different games – the team I watched was playing a totally muddled n' ineffectual creampuff and couldn't make up their minds how to take advantage of the situation, distrusting what they were acheiving, changing their attack in midstream for no discernable reason, seemingly without a clue as to why what they were doing was w*rking

if KC plays as badly in Pgh next wk, I'll bet the Steelers put up 60+ on 'em unless Tomlin reins 'em in out of mercy; if the Bolts go into Tampa employing the same attack "strategy", I'll lay odds they get shut out

San Diego only had 5 series where their offense was trying to score.

Explain how Pitt will put up 60 offensive points if they only get 5 series? This also means Mathews was in for only 4 series….

The 5 series went TD, FG, INT, punt, TD.

San Diego had one bad series the entire game on the punt, and it was aided with a penalty and sack. The INT was terrible, but is was a good drive.

This entire game had the clock on fast forward… KC had one series in the first quarter and one series in the 2nd quarter.

they'll get more than 5 series, trust me on this

as for the rest, I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree – you seem to feel that they did what they did based on the game flow while I'm convinced the game flow was the result of what they did (& didn't) do; chicken or egg…
