FA QB Kyle Orton has signed a 3 year contract with the Cowboys to be Tony Romo's new backup. 

I guess this means that Orton has given up hope of trying to be a starter in the NFL and is accepting his fate as a backup by signing a multi-year deal.  Conversely, Jason Campbell looks to be still holding out hope by agreeing to just a 1 year deal with the Bears.

I don't know why the cowboys made that deal.  Don't get me wrong orton is a fine backup for them but I would've prefered a qb with more upside in case they finally come to terms with the fact that romo can't get them to the SB and bench his ass.
